My name is Maranda R. Burns, Middle School Counselor for grades 6-8.  Having a combined total of 22 years of education, social services, and counseling, serving children and families is something I stand firm on and advocate for. I strive to address the needs of students academically and emotionally. It is important that I motivate, encourage, and inspire students to see beyond a book and what’s enclosed within four walls. All students have the potential to learn and be productive in life. MSE middle school counseling department operates within the four components: program management; foundations, accountability, and delivery of services. Each component requires the collaboration of students, parents, teachers, administration, and stakeholders.  As a counselor, I meet students where they are to assure students are college and career ready upon completing their secondary education and equipped to function in today’s society.
