the purpose of today's meeting is regarding the third grade literacy commitment update which is just to discuss the pathways that your children have so that they can be promoted from the third grade to the 4th grade we will discuss the third grade law as well as a promotional Pathways the details and schedule for the upcoming tests and assessments of Summer learning and there will be time for questions as well at the end the third grade law that which is a t t a 49 requires that the students who score in the bottom two achievement categories which are known as below or approaching on the literacy component of the third grade TCAP which is the test that we take annually Dan is a comprehensive assessment is what determines whether your child can be promoted to the third grade the support center the students who are scoring below or approaching our summer school and or tutoring these are the pathways to promotion for 3rd and 4th graders so they are four categories of how your child score when they take the T capital a portion which is exceeding or meeting the expectations if your child exceeds or meet the expectations for that exam for that test that assessment that means that they are automatically promoted to 4th grade however if your child scores anywhere that between approaching or below these are the pathways that they will have to take in order for them to be promoted to the 4th grade I'm here it is or approaching or below just a quick side note there is four ways that your child can be exempt from having to be retained and that is if they are English learner and they have spent less than two years at the LA construction your child will be exempt from being retained or if they have been previously retained in the grades case to 3 so it has already been retained in the past they cannot be retained again if your child has a disability that impacts reading your child will be exempt from being retained as well as if they have a suspected disability that impact the reading they will be exempt as well if your child score within the categories of approaching here are the different Pathways of bacon taste so the first one would be that the student will have to take another exam or another test called the aimsweb time and you will have to score in the 50th percentile and we'll have the receipt tutoring for the entirety of their fourth grade that's a way that they can get promoted to the next grade or the student retest which he will have an opportunity to retest at the end I may write it as May 22nd which is that last week of school and might not be the best option TimeWise but they do have that opportunity and it is important that they retake the test they need it in the lease Corp patient on the ELA dicapri take the second the third way is if they maintained a 90% attendance at summer school summer learning so that means that we will provide another exam next time while they're doing summer school and they have maintained a 90% attendance at that summer learning program and they demonstrate that adequate growth so when they take that they can determine or they can prove that they have and that's another way that they can go through and be promoted to the 4th grade the student receive what is called the tutoring all through fourth grade and endemic I meant to do that and with that they must show adequate growth or the fourth grade as well so that they can pass on to the fifth grade so if they choose to do that then they must show that they have grown from that exam that just test scores that they took earlier for 4th grade in order to be promoted to the 5th grade as well the other way the other pathway would be if the parent or authorized School of personality retention decision which means that the decision can be repeatedly can be appealed and they must score in the 40th percentile in the exam exam that they will be taking and there has to be a remediation plan that is send it in an email from promotion from the ELA teacher and principal and they must also come into receiving tutoring throughout the fourth grade year yeah other way would be if a parent High School personality old the retention decision due to something traumatic happening at an event that is preventing them from testing properly and they must show documentation on that as well in order for them to be promoted to the next grade and a half be a decision that is appealed if your child scored below they have to Pathways which is the student we test and makes gives gets a proficient score which just means that they gets another chance to test they do better on the tests and they scored proficient or the student maintains a 90% attendance at summer learning which means they will have to go to summer learning and they will have to commit to taking tutoring throughout the fourth grade here those are the only two ways whether they scored proficient or that they come to Summer learning 90% they show growth and they agree to have to drink weather for great year and they must show adwick wrote for the 4th grade in order to be promoted into the 5th grade this is just a visual for the promotional Pathways at work add it on for the approaching students so it is that the students who score at or before the 50th percentile in on the state provided screener and it says Ames way which is a test that and they also agreed to attend tutoring in order to be promoted to the 4th grade 90% attendance is required in that way they can be promoted to the 4th grade the second Pathways for the approaching students as well for the 2023 school year the student scores at or above the 40th percentile with the screener which would be aimsweb as well authorized Personnel principal guidance counselor etcetera May file people on their behalf have written consent from the parent or guardian and receive a form provided by the TD Department of Education if the appeal is granted then the student will be promoted to the fourth grade and no man this is the schedule for the upcoming assessments so starting on Monday the 15th of April they will take that you lace up part one and the ELA sub part 2 will be taking on stay and they will have a day to make up on the 17th and they will take the stuff part 3 for grades 3 to 5 on Thursday and the yearly return will be done Friday and if you could see they're coming week as well they also have the math apart once a part to a makeup day on Wednesday the same part portion and then they do have the third to this would be the time that they would be taking that extra tests in order for them to see if they could be promoted and how they score on that you know determines if they need proficient or not have any tutoring or not then the map testing window opens right here and you can see the English retake will be on at May 22nd so that is just a couple of days before the end of the school day to year to just me sure that you set that up or that you have that in your calendar in case your child needs to retake the English portion this is a q r code that you would need to scan in order to make sure that your child is in summer school students must attend 90% of Summer learning and in order for them to be promoted to the next grade this is when it begins on the 28th and ends on June 20th again this is the Q R code you can scan it there will be other opportunities for you to register your child for summer learning as well students in the third grade who score below may be promoted if they attend summer learning and participate in to rain during the 4th Grade B students will be required to meet adequate growth in the fourth grade English teacup assessment or they will be retained in 4th grade so again if they attend summer learning and participate in to Green Bay still need to show out of control send a test they need to be able to show that grows in the tcapp assessment in fourth grade or they will be retained in 4th grade if you
