About Me

I am a graduate of the great University of TN at Knoxville, home of the Volunteers! The best football and educational programs ever! There I received my Bachelor of Arts in Speech & Theatre and made my college sweetheart my husband! I later attended Union University and earned my Master of Arts in Education degree. I am all about family. My husband and I had one child, a daughter and one grandchild, a granddaughter.  I am very active in my church (when not quarantined), Breath of Life Christian Center where I serve in the Music & Arts Ministry which includes Drama and choir. In 2020 I became a widow which meant a big life adjustment for me but with my faith and the support of my family and friends I have continued to live and grow and look forward to whatever God has in store for this next chapter of my life!
Why I Teach
I teach because I enjoy helping young people discover new things, not just in their books but in the world, in their lives, and about themselves. Many students have hidden talents and abilities that they know nothing about! It's my job as their teacher to help them find those abilities, nurture, motivate and encourage them until they are comfortable and confident in themselves. Actions or behaviors that some may view as negative can always be turned into a positive. That "chatterbox" who seems also to be a "know-it-all" could be transformed into a peer tutor. All of our students are gifted with a purpose. My job is to help them discover what it is.
